When is the best time to schedule a maternity shoot?
The best time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. During this period
- The baby bump is beautifully round and well-visible, but it’s not too heavy to cause discomfort.
- Most women feel more energetic compared to the final weeks of pregnancy.
- There’s a lower risk of the photoshoot being interrupted by early labor.
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and relaxed! If you’re expecting twins, it’s a good idea to schedule the photoshoot earlier — around 24–28 weeks, as the bump may grow faster.
What to Bring to a Maternity Photoshoot?
Clothing:
- Dresses: Flowing or fitted dresses that emphasize the baby bump. Choose neutral tones or bold colors depending on your style
- Accessories: Belts to accentuate the waistline, knitted cardigans, shawls, or soft wraps.

Undergarments: Neutral and seamless to avoid showing through dresses.
- Footwear: Comfortable shoes if the shoot is outdoors; barefoot often works well for studio shoots.
Props:
- Ultrasound photos: A meaningful symbol to include in the shots.
- Baby shoes, clothing, or a toy: emotional and playful accents for the photos.
- Flowers: A feminine and elegant touch. A floral bouquet works beautifully.
- Jewelry: Minimalist pieces that complement your look.

- Toys or snacks to keep little ones entertained if needed.
